Marostica is a beautiful Medieval town in the province of Vicenza, Veneto region of northern Italy. It’s mostly popular for its yearly “living chess” event that is held in the central square.

Therefore the square is named “Piazza degli Scacchi” ( Chess square ) As you can see in the above image, the square shapes in the pavement, making a chess table.

It’s early October as I wander around the town, and temperature are still mild so that people enjoys sitting out for an aperitif or dinner.

You can really feel the Medieval atmosphere as you walk in the old town contained inside big walls.

On a quiet mid-week evening out of peak touristic season, the lack of noise and cars makes you really feel as you were gone back in time and I think this is great.

It’s definitely a town worth visiting if you’re travelling around the north east side of Italy. Thank you for passing by and reading this post, if you need any more information don’t hesitate to contact and remember to #GetOutMore as it’s
