A visit to the Museo del Ciclismo Madonna del Ghisallo Cycling Museum by @fabulousport

A visit to the Museo del Ghisallo Cycling Museum @MuseoGhisallo http://www.museodelghisallo.it

Located in Magreglio overlooking Lake Como, by the Madonna del Ghisallo chapel contains an exposition of vintage bicycles and cycling memorabilia, many trophies and cycling photography history.

Beside the church there is the cycling museum “Museo del Ciclismo del Ghisallo”.

Very recommended a visit if you love cycling history and it’s also a great area to discover for cycletouring if you are a keen cyclist.

Just passed the church, the road descends for a few kilometres towards Erba, then with a right turn at a roundabout, you will discover the Sormano climb with also the steepest climb variation called the “Muro di Sormano” a 1800 metres climb with a 12% to 27% gradient!

If you need more information about this region don’t hesitate to write me in the comment section below this video on the Youtube channel: “Fabulous Sport Outdoor Photography”

Selle Italia Slr Superflow Bike Saddle Test @fabulousport

After experiencing a lot of pain using a bike saddle that wasn’t good for me, the Selle Italia Monolink, I’ve decided to test another model but still giving a chance to Selle Italia as a brand. This new one to test is the Selle Italia SLR Superflow and it’s shaped with a major cut-out to allow ventilation as you ride. From Selle Italia’ website: “SLR Superflow L. The optimal sitting position on the toughest saddle
The sophistication and strength of the SLR range are combined with the benefits of SuperFlow technology to maximise your riding experience with an optimal saddle position.”
I haven’t used it for too long, but I can already say that it’s a much better design and comfortable saddle to ride, particarly at the moment, been summer and at 30*C the ventilation really helps.

A Cyclist’s Journey – Fabulous Outdoors @fabulousport

People often ask why we ride ..what is it about cycling that at a first look, it seems just a painful long term agony on a bicycle to get nowhere..or something like that. The fact is, it’s hard to explain. At first, it can feel quite daunting, but with patience, it becomes easier and you feel satisfied and proud of what you’ve achieved so far. After your ride, a refreshing shower, a cool drink and a bite to eat and you suddenly feel invigorated and alive, as long as you haven’t done too much of course.

Little by little, your body will do all the adjustments needed to make you perform better, stay out for longer rides and be willing to do more of it. In this short clip, I wanted to pass on some of the feelings, the sounds and the landscapes of a cyclist’s journey. It’s a short clip, part of a bigger documentary project, coming out in future episodes.

Paola Gianotti’s has recently been riding all the stages of this 2018 Giro d’Italia to raise road cycling safety awareness.
We’ve produced videos simulating the most common mistakes and behaviours that cyclists and car drivers should try to avoid on the road.
These videos have been shown on the Italian National Television RAI 2 TV program, IL PROCESSO ALLA TAPPA, and we’ve also distributed stickers to apply on vehicles saying “IO RISPETTO IL CICLISTA” (I respect the cyclist’s on the road), encouraging people to display it on their cars. The idea of this project was born in conjunction with Marco Cavorso who is the father of Tommaso, a young cycling victim of a road accident which ended his life.

Paola is about to cycle all the Italian Stages of the Giro d’Italia 2018, one day ahead of the official race, to spread road cycling safety awareness all around Italy. See more images here on my FLICKR. She also ride this Giro to remember Alfonsina Strada(16 March 1891 – 13 September 1959) who was an Italian cyclist, and the only woman to have ridden one of cycling’s three major stage races. She started in the Giro d’Italia in 1924 when the organisers mistook her for a man. Newspapers called her The Devil in a dress.[1]  Her racing career included an Italian record which lasted 26 years. She died aged 69 as she propped up her motorcycle after riding to a bicycle race.

I, Fabrizio Malisan @fabulouSport  will be part of her team, where we’ll follow and support Paola Gianotti in her Italian Giro 2018 adventure. Please subscribe to this blog where I’ll give you regular updates on Paola’s progress or press LIKE ON:

Rose Bikes Unboxing Bicycle Test Ride Road Bike Review by @fabulousport

Rose Bikes is an online website-based cycling shop from Germany.
The philosophy of the company is to provide a great ‘value for money’ service, good quality bicycles and components at a more affordable price than the competitors.
This is a personal honest experience as a customer. The service has been fantastic, the bike’s arrived exactly within the 3 weeks from when the order was placed on the Rose-Bikes website: http://www.rosebikes.com

The bicycles are very well packaged for delivery, in a thick padded carton box. Bike assembly is very easy, you only need to straighten the handlebars, fit the seat-post and saddle, adjust in it to your height, put the skewer in the front wheel and attach it to the front fork, add pedals ..and that’s it, you’re good to go out riding your new bike.

Cycling Tour Vlog: Rosazza Valle Cervo to Oropa Sanctuary Biella Piedmont Italy @fabulousport

The Biellese region is a fabulous land for cycling, offering several quiet roads to ride. Cycling is a great way to explore and discover these beautiful landscapes of the northern Piedmont region of Italy.
In this video I’m showing you a great climb, with quite a challenging gradient, reaching about 15%, but very rewarding and panoramic.
DCIM100GOPROGOPR1830.JPG

The climb begins once passed Biella, a lovely ride up through the Valle Cervo which is a valley that feels like time has stood still. The ride is very pleasant surrounded by very beautiful characteristic houses and picturesque villages along the river. Just before you get to the town of Rosazza, there’s a left turn on a bridge, then left again towards San Giovanni and Galleria di Rosazza, the tunnel that leads to Oropa on the other side of the mountain. However, whilst you are there, I recommend you cycle all the way to the end of the Cervo Valley, to visit Rosazza and Piedicavallo, both really interesting little villages.

It’s always more exciting to cycle up a hill from one side and descend the other side, as it really feels like travelling further.

The Sanctuary of Oropa has hosted a few Giro d’Italia stage finishes. It’s a great road to climb from the town of Biella, winding it’s way up to the Sanctuary.
