The town of Bellagio is located on the tip of the inverted Y shape that’s characteristic of the Southern part of Lake Como.
Looking North from Bellagio, you’ll see a stunning view of the lake with it’s surrounding mountains and, on the left side you have the “”Como side of the lake, on the right side the “Lecco side” of it.
Behind Bellagio there’s a winding road that climbs it’s way up to the Madonna de Ghisallo, very popular for it’s Church and for the cycling museum.
The road is known also for being part of the cycling Giro di Lombardia and this year’s Giro d’Italia 2019. Proceeding along past the Madonna del Ghisallo, the road descends into a beautiful valley that meanders it’s way to Erba (Como) or, with a sharp right turn, climbs up towards the town of Sormano.
Popular in the cycling world for it’s very steep climb “Il Muro di Sormano“, a 1.6 Km climb with gradients ranging from 17% to 25%, a love/hate challenge for cyclists.
Descending back down towards Como, the road is quite steep and winding, with great views over the lake and coming back down before reaching Como, the characteristic town of Torno is worth a visit as it merges into the lake giving you a great point of view.
A great way to discover this part of Lake Como is by ferry, a daily ticket allows you to get on and off the boat to go visit all the beautiful town and villages surrounding the lake, stunning gardens and villas open to the public.
In Bellagio and pretty much all around the lake you’ll find great hospitality, delicious food and drink to compliment your stay, making sure that your Italian travel experience, to explore and discover Lake Como won’t disappoint your expectations.

12th December 2018 Snow Report.
We went to check out the snow conditions in the beautiful ski resort of Courchevel in the French Alps.
The snow coverage is very good on the slopes, freshly groomed runs and cold temperatures. In the lower part of the resort, snow making is on, so it’s going to be soon well covered with snow all the way down to 1300mt. which is the village of Le Praz.
People often ask why we ride ..what is it about cycling that at a first look, it seems just a painful long term agony on a bicycle to get nowhere..or something like that. The fact is, it’s hard to explain. At first, it can feel quite daunting, but with patience, it becomes easier and you feel satisfied and proud of what you’ve achieved so far. After your ride, a refreshing shower, a cool drink and a bite to eat and you suddenly feel invigorated and alive, as long as you haven’t done too much of course.
Little by little, your body will do all the adjustments needed to make you perform better, stay out for longer rides and be willing to do more of it. In this short clip, I wanted to pass on some of the feelings, the sounds and the landscapes of a cyclist’s journey. It’s a short clip, part of a bigger documentary project, coming out in future episodes.

Located between Albertville and Bourg Saint Maurice, the Roselend Valley is a paradise for the lovers of the outdoors. The roads are nice and winding and they’re surrounded by fields of natural flowers, waterfalls and flowing streams of water.
In the middle of the valley sits the water dam with the stunning mountain peak overlooking at it. Whether you love mountain walking, hiking, road cycling or mountain biking or just lover of traveling through breathtaking landscapes, this is one place not to be missed.
The professional cycling Tour de France and the Criterium du Dauphiné have chosen this route for a few stages this year 2018.
Here below, a short video clip of a lovely Marmot spotted at the stunning mountain landscape of the Cormet Roselend in the French Alps.
A LOVELY MARMOT A short video clip from one of my wildlife photography documentaries.
This was captured in the Alps of France at the stunning Cormet de Roselend, with it’s water dam, waterfalls and breathtaking landscape.
Marmots are popular in the Alps and at this time of the year they are really nice and fluffy after the winter season.
There aren’t many places to stay up in the valley, but just below getting to the top, there are a few villages that have accommodation available, one of which is Areches Beaufort. Once at the top however, overlooking the dam, is the Chalet de Roselend , a warm and welcoming family run hotel, situated with the most breathtaking views. The Chalet de Roselend provides a very comfortable stay with breathtaking window and balcony views that make you really feel part of the stunning natural environment. The family owners and staff are very friendly and you feel like you’re at home immediately. The food is very tasty, with a set menu of local specialities and products from the region.
(Wikipedia: “The Roselend Dam is an arch-buttress dam located 5 km (3 mi) east of Beaufort in the Savoie department of the Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. It is located just west and below the Cormet de Roselend mountain pass. The dam was designed by Coyne et Bellier and construction began in 1955. The reservoir began to fill in 1960, the power station was operational in 1961 and the dam complete in 1962. It was constructed for the primary purpose of hydroelectric power generation and supports the 546 MW La Bâthie Power Station.“)

It’s been a very temperamental winter over the European Alps, lots of snow has fallen, followed by rapid temperature change. Suddenly Spring arrives with it’s beautiful clear skies, white clouds blown by the wind over the mountains, stunning sunrises and sunsets to be photographed.
It’s definitely my favourite season to shoot landscapes, but I also love Spring for the awakening of nature. Birds happily singing and busy flying to feed their little ones calling for food from their nest and other animals running around with their new borns. Sunrises and sunsets are pretty good to be captured all year round indeed, but in the Alps or in their proximity, you can still get the snow on the peaks in contrast with the green landscape at a lower altitude. At the same time, you don’t have to freeze yourself as you do in wintertime going up before the sunrise to set your gear for the shoot.
For this particular shoot, we were out for one of my photo-walks around the lakes as the sun was about to set creating these beautiful reflections in the water.

It’s a very cold winter in the alps, lots of snow and temperatures of -15C / -20C and more. As a lover of the outdoors and a photographer, these are great conditions for capturing beautiful natural landscapes with the fresh snow making it a real winter wonderland. In this video, I went for a walk in the beautiful Champagny Le Haut in France, which is part of the Parc National de la Vanoise.
It’s a great place to visit and to be surrounded by nature and to enjoy the beautiful outdoors and all the fabulous outdoor activities possible in this location.
I’ve been using canon cameras and equipment, plus a wide angle lens from Tokina.
For better audio capture I’ve mounted the external microphone video-mic pro which it performs much better than the inbuilt one.
