The stunning Roselend Valley – Fabulous Outdoors

Located between Albertville and Bourg Saint Maurice, the Roselend Valley is a paradise for the lovers of the outdoors. The roads are nice and winding and they’re surrounded by fields of natural flowers, waterfalls and flowing streams of water.

In the middle of the valley sits the water dam with the stunning mountain peak overlooking at it. Whether you love mountain walking, hiking, road cycling or mountain biking or just lover of traveling through breathtaking landscapes, this is one place not to be missed.

Here below, a short video clip of a lovely Marmot spotted at the stunning mountain landscape of the Cormet Roselend in the French Alps.

This was captured in the Alps of France at the stunning Cormet de Roselend, with it’s water dam, waterfalls and breathtaking landscape.
Marmots are popular in the Alps and at this time of the year they are really nice and fluffy after the winter season.

WHERE TO STAY:

There aren’t many places to stay up in the valley, but just below getting to the top, there are a few villages that have accommodation available, one of which is Areches Beaufort. Once at the top however, overlooking the dam, is the Chalet de Roselend , a warm and welcoming family run hotel, situated with the most breathtaking views.      The Chalet de Roselend provides a very comfortable stay with breathtaking window and balcony views that make you really feel part of the stunning natural environment. The family owners and staff are very friendly and you feel like you’re at home immediately. The food is very tasty, with a set menu of local specialities and products from the region.

(Wikipedia: “The Roselend Dam is an arch-buttress dam located 5 km (3 mi) east of Beaufort in the Savoie department of the Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. It is located just west and below the Cormet de Roselend mountain pass. The dam was designed by Coyne et Bellier and construction began in 1955. The reservoir began to fill in 1960, the power station was operational in 1961 and the dam complete in 1962. It was constructed for the primary purpose of hydroelectric power generation and supports the 546 MW La Bâthie Power Station.“)

Winter Wonderland Photography Walk – Fabulous Outdoors

It’s a very cold winter in the alps, lots of snow and temperatures of -15C / -20C and more. As a lover of the outdoors and a photographer, these are great conditions for capturing beautiful natural landscapes with the fresh snow making it a real winter wonderland. In this video, I went for a walk in the beautiful Champagny Le Haut in France, which is part of the Parc National de la Vanoise.

Here’s a video of the photo walk in this beautiful location: https://youtu.be/DecTDeUgWaY

It’s a great place to visit and to be surrounded by nature and to enjoy the beautiful outdoors and all the fabulous outdoor activities possible in this location.

I’ve been using canon cameras and equipment, plus a wide angle lens from Tokina.
For better audio capture I’ve mounted the external microphone video-mic pro which it performs much better than the inbuilt one.

The Mountain Wildlife of the Gran Paradiso National Park – #FabulousOutdoors

Wildlife Documentary filmed at the Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso – Grand Paradis National Park – Fabulous Outdoor Photography
Footage of the wild animals living in the mountains, including mountain goats, alpine ibex, marmots, deer..

Alpine Ibex at sunset in the Gran Paradiso National Pak - Fabulous Outdoors

In the month of May, when the seasons are transitioning and the snow is slowly melting away, the mountains come alive. Some of these animals have been sleeping for most of the winter, like the marmots, and start foraging for food. The alpine ibex and the mountain goats begin to moult, which is why you'll often see them scratching their fur with their horns or rubbing against trees or rocks.

Visiting the Gran Paradiso National Park is a great opportunity not only to go for a beautiful mountain hike, but also for the amazing encounters with this lovely wild creatures.

There’s something lovely about #waterfalls

Water for us is a very important and essential component of our life, we are made of water and we wouldn’t exist without it. As you stand next to a waterfall, either big or small, you feel the energy and the freshness that it brings.

It’s Springtime, and all the small streams of water coming down from the mountains become more spectacular with the increase amount of water from the snow melting up above.

Wildlife Filming Tutorial Nature Photography Tips Fabulous Outdoors

A few tips for filming wildlife photography nature tutorial by Fabulous Outdoors https://fabulousoutdoors.wordpress.com
Trying to capture Wildlife on camera is not an easy task, however these few tips will help to make the photographer/ filmmaker’s life in conquering the challenge, a little easier.

Going out in the woods on a rainy day, as when it’s raining we increase the chances of not been spotted so easily by the animals.
The noise that the rain makes, helps to confuse the sounds of our steps in the forest. Consider to be always down wind to the animals, as they can smell us way before they hear the noises we make. Turning on your camera before entering the woods increases the chances of capturing the first moment of our surprise visit to their environment. Starting recording ..pressing the record button before approaching the woodland make sure you get some footage in your camera. With a bit of practice and experience, and knowing a location well, will get you to capture pretty good images pretty soon.

Canon 70D Review Video Tutorial – Fabulous Outdoor Photography

Photography Tips for beginners – Which dslr camera to choose?

On this occasion, I’ve tested the Canon 70D.

Whether you are a beginner, an advanced photographer or one willing to become a better photographer, the Canon 70D is a great compromise. It’s an APS-c crop sensor, but the image quality is pretty good and you get the advantage of reaching further compared to full frame cameras. That’s a plus if you’re willing to do some Wildlife photography or Sports Photography. As mentioned in the video, most very helpful and useful features aren’t included in the more professional Canon range ( as to this date, April 2016 ). The new released Canon 80D has got of course a few improvements, but being a newer camera, you’ll pay the novelty price.
